Running Light is a site-specific light installation transforming the landmarked water tower of the city of Marchtrenk (Upper Austria) into a light signal.
54 light strips are mounted on the tower, doing a 360° rotation around the cylinder-shaped water tank. Hereby, the installation refers to maritime light and signal devices used for location determination. In the form of an abstract and rotating light sculpture, the tower reveals its own location as well as the position of the others and refers to migration-issues, forms of movement, navigation and orientation.
