Pairidaeza

Pairidaeza, light installation, neonflex, PVC, steel, cable, power supply, 200×30×10 cm, 2018

The work Pairidaeza was created as part of an exhibition project in Tehran. It is a light installation referring to the Persian language and its influence on the German word Paradies”. Characterizing an enclosed space, the Old Persian word pairidaeza found its expression in Indo-European probably due to the beauty of Persian gardens. Referring to this etymological history and the omnipresence of light in the streets of Tehran, the installation shows the word Paradies as bright lettering. Its readability, however, remains partial, inviting the visitors to consciously and actively move around the installation.
